This is the main collection comprising high
quality selective books related to the LUMS academic programmes.
The books on computer science, computer engineering, economics,
public administration, science & technology, management
sciences are housed at ground floor of the library while books
on philosophy, psychology, religion, sociology, politics, law,
language & literature, arts, and history & geography
are housed at Khalid Ishaque Wing (library Ist floor).
A significant number of current reference sources
are available on reference shelves. Various electronic databases
including micro data-sets produced by Federal Bureau of Statistics
are distinct features of this collection. This collection also
contains dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, directories,
yearbooks, atlases, bibliographies.
The library acquires Government of Pakistan documents
related to the study and research needs of its users. These documents
highlight important statistics, annual and five year plans, budget,
census reports, economic surveys and other material published
by the provincial and federal government agencies.
The library is a repository for publications
of the World Bank, the United Nations, Asian Development Bank,
International Monetary Fund, International Trade Organization,
and European Union. The library has separate sections to house
these publications. These collections mostly contain world data,
demographic statistics and economic trends.
We are housing LUMS faculty and students research
out put e.g. MBA projects, MS projects, theses, dissertations,
research assignments, and the publications of LUMS research centers
(SMEC, CMER) in separate location.
Multimedia section provides access to audiovisual
material; CD-ROMs, DVDs, and videos for borrowers as well as in-house
facilities to watch. The section is equipped with Cable TV, VCRs,
CD & DVD players, a Hi-Fi audio system, and microfilm and
The library has been subscribing to more than
385 national and international journals and magazines in print
format. A complete list is available at library website / library
portal and at the reference desk. The current issues of the periodicals
are displayed on special shelves in the main reading area. Back
volumes of these periodicals are bound and shelved separately.
The library has a collection of course reserves/reading
packages of the courses offered during last five years. These
course reserves have been developed by the faculty to fulfill
the textual/course needs of the students.
Company Annual Reports
This is a unique feature of LUMS Library; more
than 11,000 Annual Reports of approximately 900 stock exchange
listed companies have been collected and organized in this collection.
This collection is further strengthened by electronic database
VISTA that carries companies' historical data starting from 1990.
The library is maintaining press clippings from
three major national dailies (Dawn, Business Recorder, The News,
and The Nation) on 53 different broad subject areas related to
academic programmes. The collection goes back to 1987. The library
also developed a searchable database with full text/digital support
from 2000 onward.
Pamphlet and Reports
The library has an important collection of 10,200
small pamphlets and reports on subjects related to teaching and
research at LUMS and are housed separately in boxes.
The library has access to a wide range of electronic
resources including e-databases, e-journals and e-books accessible
through internet, campus wide network and from the library terminals.

Pakistan Periodicals Index
PPI is a searchable bibliographic database of
articles published in major Pakistani periodicals. The references
cover 12,000 index entries from January 1988 to date.
