Gad and Birgit Rausing Library celebrated 142nd birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal on November 14, 2019 at Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law , Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Dr. Baseera Ambreen, Chairperson of Iqbal studies at University of the Punjab, graced the event as chief guest. She shared her views about Iqbal’s concept of Saqafat to the youth and emphasised on practicing unity of the nation and to be proud of your culture, that will lead the Muslim world and to raise leadership among the youth with pride as a strong national concept.
Calligraphy Artist, Aslam Kamal along with calligraphy and art, is also a novelist, poet and travelogue writer. He is an expert on Iqbal Poetry and author of Kasb-e-Kamal the calligraphic and painting work of Kalam-e-Iqbal. He has designed more than twenty thousand book covers which is a world record so far. Khat-e-Kamal is his unique calligraphic style of Urdu language and is quite popular font for Urdu Composers. He spoke about Iqbal's concept of culture and his message to youth. Dr. Moeen Niazmi, Director Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature at MGSHSS concluded the programme and appreciated the library's efforts to celebrate Iqbal Day.
LUMS students and SOZE band presented Kalam-e-Iqbal to the audience, the participants and speakers admired students’ participation making the event memorable. Iqbal Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal and every one thoroughly enjoyed the event.
