Dr. Qandeel Almas received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. Chemical Engineering degrees from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. She received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship in 2014 to carry out her doctoral studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her doctoral thesis was focused on the study of different deactivation pathways of zeolite-based catalysts used in the upgrading of petroleum- and biomass-derived feedstocks. She also obtained an associate level certificate from the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) at Georgia Institute of Technology.

Prior to joining LUMS as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Almas was affiliated with the Department of Chemical, Polymer and Composite Materials Engineering, UET, New Campus, Lahore as a faculty for over a decade.

Qandeel's primary research interests include the development of processes and functional materials for the sustainable production of fuels and chemicals, particularly through the valorization of biomass-derived feedstocks.

Research Areas:

  • Heterogeneous Catalysis
  • Biomass Valorization
  • Sustainable energy production
