Other Services

Book Lending

All registered users are entitled to borrow books. Lending privileges differ for various categories. Please inquire at the circulation desk for your eligibility. Online renewal and reservation services are also available. To borrow books, please present your library relationship card at the circulation desk.

Reference Service through helpdesks

Three active specialized Help Desks have been set up to provide in-depth reference and research support. All helpdesks provide services till 8:00 pm on all working days. Users may make queries by telephone, fax, and e-mail at library@lums.edu.pk.

  • Business & Economics Helpdesk

    It handles queries from Suleman Dawood School of Business and Economics faculty, students and researchers.

  • Humanities, Social Sciences & Law Helpdesk

    Provides reference and research support to faculty, students, and researchers in the field of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law & Policy.

  • Science & Engineering Helpdesk

    Handles queries of students, faculty, and researchers of the School of Science and Engineering in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering & Mathematics.

Online Workstations

Every computer at LUMS is an online workstation and can be used to search the library catalogs and full-text online resources. Gad & Birgit Rausing Library catalog http://libraryportal.lums.edu.pk is searchable from any part of the world having an internet connection.

Searching Assistance

In case an item is not located on the shelf, an inquiry can be made at the circulation desk. A search will then be initiated and the user will be notified when the required item is found. The found item will be held at the Circulation Desk for two days for the user to pick up.

Instructional Support

The library generates subject bibliographies of the available resources for instructional support. These bibliographies are delivered to the faculty for course design and to students for their research projects and assignments.

Reprographic Service

One self-service photocopying machines are available in the library. Pre-paid photocopying cards can be purchased from the accounts department.

VPN (Virtual Private Network)

The library provides remote access to full-text online databases and journal resources to its faculty, researchers, and graduate & postgraduate students. They can avail of this service from remote locations by providing their LUMS network credentials at https://vpn.lums.edu.pk.

Wi-Fi

Wireless connectivity to the internet is available on both floors of the library. Patrons can use their laptops/notebooks with the built-in wireless adaptors to avail of this server.
