LUMS Library Receives the Lala Rukh Collection

The Gad and Brigit Rausing Library at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is pleased to announce the acquisition of the personal collection of Ms. Lala Rukh, a distinguished Pakistani artist, educator, and advocate of women’s rights.
 

About Lala Rukh

Lala Rukh (1948–2017) was a prominent Pakistani visual artist, educator, and feminist whose work explored themes of gender, politics, social justice, and human rights. She taught at the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore and was a founding member of Women’s Action Forum (WAF), contributing significantly to feminist activism and discourse in Pakistan. Her artistic and academic legacy continues to influence generations of artists, educators, and researchers. 
 

The Collection

The collection comprises approximately 850 books, primarily in gender studies, with additional works in literature and social sciences. It reflects Lala Rukh’s diverse intellectual interests and engagement with society, culture, and social change.

The collection will enrich the library’s holdings and provide valuable resources for students, faculty, and researchers. The books are currently being processed and catalogued and will soon be available through the LUMS Library portal.

The library gratefully acknowledges this valuable contribution and looks forward to preserving the collection and making it accessible to the LUMS community and future researchers.
